Munich, 19 February 2026 – Deutsche Pfandbriefbank (pbb) is financing logistics developments in Herten and Bensheim on behalf of the joint venture between Urban Partners (formerly Nrep) and HIH Invest. Both projects are being developed in accordance with the latest ESG standards and are aiming for DGNB Gold certification.

In the northern Ruhr area, in the town of Herten, a logistics complex with a total rental area of 36,821 m² is being built on a 65,220 m² brownfield site, with completion planned for mid-2026. Almost half of the facility has already been pre-let.

Another logistics development is underway in the southern Hessian town of Bensheim, which benefits from excellent connections to the A5 and A67 motorways. Construction on the approximately 40,000 m² site is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2026. The property will offer a total rental area of 22,861 m² and has already been pre-let on a long-term basis.

Gerhard Meitinger, Head of Real Estate Finance Germany at pbb, said: ‘There is sustained demand from tenants and investors for modern, ESG-compliant logistics properties in convenient locations that are tailored to the needs of users. We are therefore delighted to support the Urban Partners/HIH Invest joint venture in the implementation of these logistics projects.’

"The projects in Herten and Bensheim demonstrate our strategy of investing in future-proof logistics properties with a clear sustainability profile and a focus on long-term, versatile use. We are continuing to expand our logistics segment at HIH Invest, which currently has more than €1.5 billion in assets under management. We look forward to further joint projects with our proven partners,‘ commented Felix Meyen, Managing Director at HIH Invest.

Wolfgang Ködel, Managing Director of Urban Partners Germany, said: ’We are delighted to be working with pbb on the external financing of these high-quality projects, which underpin our ambitions to revitalise brownfield sites to create flexible, future-proof facilities that support regional supply chains. Together with our trusted partners, we are proud to be driving these projects forward."
